About our Department

In the Department of Internal Medicine III, we combine highly specialized expertise with a focus on gastroenterology, nephrology with dialysis, infectious diseases, proctology, and diabetes. Additionally, we, together with the Departments of Internal Medicine I, II, and IV, treat all other general internal diseases.

Gastroenterology includes endoscopy, where examinations of the gastrointestinal tract, liver, pancreas, and biliary tract are carried out by direct visualization or with a contrast medium. Our particular expertise encompasses the removal of stones from the bile and pancreatic ducts, treatment of strictures in the entire gastrointestinal tract, endoscopic ultrasound (endosonography) of the gastrointestinal tract and abdominal organs, endoscopic treatment of Zenker diverticulum, necrosis, anal diseases such as hemorrhoids, removal of benign and malignant tumors in the early stage, as well as direct (optical) insight into the deep biliary tract using the modern technique- cholangioscopy.

Ultrasound diagnostics of the abdomen and thyroid with and without contrast medium, with tissue sampling, as well as the minimally invasive treatment of fluid accumulation in the lungs or abdominal cavity, are also carried out in our department. In cooperation with radiology, we offer the entire spectrum of diagnostic imaging and intervention.

Functional diagnostics include pressure measurement and (wireless) acid measurement in the esophagus, stomach, or pressure measurement in the rectum.

In acute emergencies (e.g., bleeding, sepsis, abdominal or renal problems), our intensive care interdisciplinary team will care for you around the clock and on weekends, 365 days a year.

The Nephrology & Dialysis section cares for patients with nephrological diseases, including hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis (CAPD), as well as patients with rheumatological systemic diseases, such as vasculitis. Currently, there are 14 hemodialysis stations and two devices for automatic dialysate exchange in peritoneal dialysis (cycler) available. Another focus is the post-care of kidney transplant recipients. Patients with hypertension and shunt dysfunction are treated together with the Department of Vascular Surgery. Furthermore, the department has modern ultrasound devices, which are used for kidney biopsies for specific issues. There is close cooperation with the outpatient dialysis centers in the region and the transplant centers of Charité - Berlin.

Our team consisting of five senior physicians with different areas of expertise is always there to support you.

Our private station offers you an exclusive stay in comfortable and modern rooms. Your culinary desires will be fulfilled and you will enjoy exclusive, individual care from the chief physician. Health checkups are offered either as an ambulatory service or can be combined with an overnight stay. In addition, we offer a second opinion in person as well as online via video for the diagnosis and treatment of all diseases.

If you have any questions or requests, please feel free to contact us at any time.
